Web Project Starter Info

First of all Megan and I would like to thank everyone in advance for your creative efforts. We are super excited to see what a class full of designers can do to our digital image in 2 weeks time. As we discussed in class our shop is based around our local Portland culture, artwork is from a couple local artists plus some things we picked up at last thursday on Alberta st. We also had a friend who takes amazing live action pictures around town and we devoted a wall to it... we love stuff like that. I guess what we are trying to say are the possibilities are wide open but we are certainly here to try and help narrow in a focus where we can. Our website (though not pretty) does have alot of info about us and displays the types of things we want to show off.

To get started we have posted some resources in a drop.io account where we have dumped a few of our past projects, logos, and pics.
Address is: http://drop.io/activeculturegraphics
To access use: "froyo50"

To answer a first couple questions:

What font is our logo?
Not sure actually. I thought I knew but I dont. The .AI file is in the drop.io account so if anyone figures it out please share.

What color codes do you use?
We started with the pallet below but have changed it up a bit as well. Our shop colors consist of dark brown (ceilings and trim), green (lima bean by Devine / Miller paints), and crayon orange chairs.
Designer codes:
greens = PMS 384 (darker) and PMS 390 (lighter)
Brown = 462
Orange = 158 (bright crayon orange I hope)

Any other questions please shoot em over.

  1. Hello! So I had a question about the color scheme, and I know this may be a little ridiculous so I apologize in advance. I created this color palette based on the designer codes given, and they seemed to turn out alright except for brown.

    I picked the brown straight from one of the logo files and it seems to be slightly different than the brown from the codes. I'm just wondering if you guys had a preference of which to use and also if the other colors look like they should as well. Thank you for your time, sorry about the tedious question!

  2. Great question and not tedious at all... heh you did all the tedious work yourself by posting the palette! (thanks for that) The answer to your question on preference is to go with what works. This color scheme was just a starting place for us and we are open to ideas on spicing it up and or brightening it up (even encouraging). In this specific palette the colors are more muted and we havent really stuck to it except vaguely really so if it makes sense to use the brown from the logo because it needs to match the brown on the site then that works... if the logo can be altered slightly in color to fit the scheme you are going for (or even the one presented) then that is ok too. Thanks for asking!

  3. Hey there... Just thought I'd let you guys know that I believe the font used for the for the logo is Insignia from Adobe. Unfortunately, it costs about 30 bucks if you don't already have it...
